# Board Studio for Jira Cloud

> Board Studio is a Jira Cloud app that provides beautiful dependency visualization for agile teams. It helps teams see work connections across projects with a visual, interactive board—no SAFe framework required. Free up to 10 users and runs natively on Atlassian. Developed by Huminder. (Formerly known as "Program Board".)

Board Studio transforms how teams understand cross-team dependencies in Jira. Unlike complex enterprise tools, it focuses on visual clarity with zero learning curve: semantic zoom, styled dependencies, unlimited swimlanes, timeline mode, and rollup metrics. Works with all Jira Cloud plans (Free, Standard, Premium, Enterprise).

### Visualization & Layout
- **Visual dependency graph**: See how work items connect across projects with beautiful, animated visualization powered by yFiles for HTML 3.0
- **Configurable swimlanes**: Organize cards by any Jira field on horizontal and vertical axes
- **Unlimited dimension nesting**: Add as many swimlanes and grouping levels as needed
- **Unlimited sorting dimensions**: Sort cards by multiple Jira fields with customizable priority and direction (ascending/descending)
- **Smart grouping**: Stack related cards visually with collapsible groups
- **Sticky swimlane headers**: Row/column headers stay visible while scrolling and zooming
- **Semantic zoom**: Drill between hierarchy levels (epics → stories → sub-tasks) with smooth viewport transitions
- **Timeline / sprint visualization**: Lay out work over sprints with multi-sprint spanning, a virtual "Unscheduled" sprint, completed-sprint horizon, and bucketed mode for parallel sprints

### Cards & Avatars
- **Rich card content**: Configurable card presets (compact, planning, risk) with issue-type icons, story points, status, assignee, sprint, and custom fields
- **Card avatar system**: Every card shows project, creator, and assignee avatars (cached via authenticated Jira blob URLs)
- **Team avatars in headers**: Swimlane headers display team/assignee avatars when grouped accordingly
- **Field pulse on save**: Newly added card fields pulse visually after layout updates, with viewport preserved

### Dependency Links
- **Link styling**: Customize dependency link appearance with colors, line styles (solid/dash/dot), thickness, arrow types, and corner smoothing — per inward/outward direction
- **Link visibility toggles**: Show/hide individual link types
- **Per-level "separate / hide linked cards" toggles**: Control linked-card behavior independently at each hierarchy level
- **Dependency roll-ups (aggregate edges)**: When children are grouped, edges aggregate at the parent level with link-count badges
- **Aggregate-edge drill-down**: Click an aggregate edge to drill into the constituent links, with one-click drill-back restoration

### Inspector (Selection Details)
- **Node Inspector**: Side panel showing full details of any selected card, with real Jira colors for statuses, link types, and issue types
- **Aggregate-edge Inspector**: Inspect roll-up edges and see all underlying child-to-child links
- **Child cards section**: Browse a parent's children directly from the Inspector
- **Parent context**: Selection-driven "Show Parent Context" to navigate up the hierarchy
